Giving money for charity is highly commendable, and the sky is the limit, but Zakat is different because it is obligatory and is given in a calculated amount.
Zakat may be distributed directly to individuals of one or more of the 8 classes prescribed by the Holy Quran or to welfare organizations, which look after them.
MESCO NEEDS YOUR ZAKAT FOR EDUCATION
ADVANCEMENT AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE OF OUR BRETHREN
MESCO is a Mumbai based registered non-political, non-profit making NGO working since 1968.
MESCO has been using Zakat collected by it for funding various schemes according to the tenets
ordained in the Quran and the Sunnah.
» Last year (2003 2004) annual report shows that MESCO has helped 1738 students from primary to professional levels through well designed schemes aimed towards long term sustainable development.
» MESCO has helped 470 patients undergo heart surgery, chronic renal failure management, cancer treatment, minor surgeries and provided medicines for TB
» Distributed 39 sewing machines for widows and destitutes and 25 cases of house repair were assisted.
Since last 36 years we are able to manage these activities through your support, we therefore
appeal to you and through you to your friends, relatives, acquaintances to send in their Zakat,
sadqa, lillah contributions to MESCO.
