Dates of construction to be decided at Kumbh
By Obaid Nasir, Lucknow

Vishwa Hindu Parishad International President Ashok Singhal, General Secretary Praveen Bhai Togadia have publicly declared to go ahead with temple construction come what may. BJP member of Lok Sabha Mahant Aditya Nath and Dr Ram Vilas Vedanti have also came out openly in favour of temple and rejected the national agenda of NDA.They have time and again declared that the courts have no jurisdiction in matters of faith, their faith is above law.

Date to start construction work will be decided in Kumbh Mela going to be held in the month of January 2001 when a Dharam Sansad ( Religious Parliament) of Sadhus and saints will take the final decision in this regard. They will also decide the date and time to start the work.

According to the information available from different sources the Dharam Sansad may decide to start the construction work some time in the month of October or November 2001. Before this a popular movement will be started probably from March for which ‘tolis’ (groups) are being formed which will cover about all the four lakh villages of the country. A huge model of the proposed temple will also be moved in the width and breadth of the country in order to to galvanize the people. Sangh Parivar wants to bring back the frenzy of 1989-91 which had put the entire nation into the flame but ensured more seats to the BJP both in Parliament and the UP assembly.

Ram Janam Bhoomi Nyas trust has almost completed the ground work. Carving of stones for pillars of the temple was started immediately after the dust was settled after the demolition of Babri Masjid in December 1992. Workshops for this purpose were established in Ayodhya and Rajasthan.

On 12 December four truck- loads of stones to be used in the Garbh Girah (sanctum sanctorum) of the proposed temple reached Ayodhya from Rajasthan . At Karsevakpuram in Ayodhya they were received by the in-charge of Karsevakpuram Prakash Awasthi, Braham Swaroop, Girish Bhai Sonpura and more than a hundred devotees present in Karsevakpuram, The stones were worshipped after unloading. Media In-charge of VHP told that 40 more such trucks will reach Ayodhya shortly. He said that the carving work will be completed by March 2001 so that the pillars are ready to be used immediately after getting the green signal from Dharamacharyas after the Dharma Sansad meeting in Kumbh.

Mr Sharma told that the Ram Janam Bhoomi Nyas Trust's Chairman Paramhans Ram Chandra Das and vice Chairman Mahant Nritya Gopal Das VHP Supremo Ashok Singhal and General Secretary Praveen Bhai Togadia have directed the artisans to speed up the carving work. Keeping in mind the paucity of time one more cutting machine has been pushed so that required number of pillars are ready whenever needed. We should be ready for any eventuality in the days to come.

According to information circulating here the central government may hand over the land it acquired in 1993 adjacent to the Babri Masjid to the Ram Janam Bhumi Nyas trust which will start construction from March 2001. Later the disputed plots including the Babri Masjid area will be included . It may be noted here that the Kalyan Singh government had demolished many small temples in the vicinity to develop the area as Ram Katha Park by the state tourism department. The VHP and the Ram Janam Bhoom Nyas trust will start the construction work and that can not be objected upon provided the map of the proposed temple is approved by Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA). However, it will be a ticklish job as legally the map for any construction can only be approved if the land is not disputed . But objection could only be raised by the authorities of ADA and they can be so called Ram Bhakts.
