Laboratory of Hindu Rashtra
|Gujarat has become a laboratory of Hindu Rrashtra where the minorities, particularly Muslims, are being paralyzed economically by the combined lot of BJP RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal (BD). Their first successful experiment was on 3rd Aug 2000 during Gujarat bandh in condemnation of the killings of Amarnath pilgrims in Kashmir. During this bandh, 63 shops and factories were destroyed of which 51 belonged to Muslims. This was revealed in a report by the Peoples Union for Human Rights (PUCL). In addition to the above organinsotiions, the call for ‘bandh’ was supported by Gujarat Textile Mfg. Association, Surat Textiles Federation, Manufacturing Association, diamond Merchants.
Mr. Justice Suresh, a former judge of Mumbai Hihg Court, said that in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Pampur etc., Muslims and Christians were targeted. Powerlooms of Muslims were set on fire involving a less of Rs. 15 million. There were 87 criminal cases during the bandh which were registered in a composite FIR which contained names of responsible VHP and BD leaders but no one was arrested. Some BJP corporators were caught with fire arms but no action was taken against them. Justice Suresh said that VHP’s contention of conversion of Hindus to Islam or Christianity is based on misleading propaganda. The fact is that the amount of money received from foreign countries, particularly from the USA, for the Hindus is not received for any other person or group. He further said that Muslims ruled for 800 years in this country. If they wanted, they would have converted all to Islam. Similarly, Christians ruled here for 150 years. If they wanted, they would have converted all or most of them to Christianity. But neither the Muslims nor the Christians did so. Now RSS, BD, VHP and others are giving a fillip to Hindus by such misleading propaganda and plotting communal riots. He said that whatever they did on 3 Aug clearly shows they have already drawn up a plan of Hindu Rashtra and Hindutva. They are planning to paralyse followers of other religious beliefs economically and subjugate them. Peoples Union of Human Rights has demanded in its report that the incidents of 3 Aug. 2000 should be inquired into by an independent judge and compensation be paid to the sufferers. The guilty politicians should be tried. Action should also be taken against newspapers which preach communal hatred Justice Suresh expressed the fear that if such activities are not curbed, the democratic system of this country will be destroyed and it will become the slave of an ideology.
