Exhibition of Indian arts and literary works in Baghdad
Baghdad: An exhibition of Indian arts, culture and civilization was organized in Baghdad on the occasion of twelfth Foundation Day of Jamia Saddamul Uloom Al-Islamia. Photos of historical buildings of India, particularly of Taj Mahal, Jama Masjid Delhi, old palaces of kings, Rajas, nawabs educational and scientific institutions, Indian dresses, musical instruments, long range ballistic missile were placed in this exhibition. In addition, works of Indian literary figures, particularly Imam Ahmad Raza Khan’s books, weekly and monthly magazines etc were also exhibited.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Iraqi minister for Auqaf, Dr Abdul Mun’im Ahmad Saleh in the presence of Ra’ees (chief), and deputy chief of the Jamia (University), heads of departments of the university and colleges and students and teachers. The second secretary of Indian Embassy in Baghdad, Mr Wadhwa was also present.
More than 200 manuscripts of Faazil Barelwi and other learned scholars were on display. Ten prominent Ulama and scholars analyzed the works of Faazil Barelwi from scientific and artistic angles. The famous Iraqi poet and litterateur, Prof Rashidul Abidi has already completed a critical analysis and explanation of Faazil Barelwi’s Arabic ode containing 313 couplets. q |
