We will throw shilas in gutter: mahants
Serious differences have cropped up in the Ramjanambhoomi Nyas Trust. Several senior mahants and members of the RJN, whose chairman Ramchandra Das Pramhans handed over two shilas (carved pillars) to the Prime Minister Office’s (PMO) Ayodhya Cell chief Shatrughan Singh on 15 March, have threatened to throw the two shilas in a gutter. The VHP claimed that these shilas will be used during Ram temple's construction. The two pillars are being kept at Dasrath Mahal in Ayodhya.
This anti-VHP campaign is being spearheaded by the chief priest of the disputed makeshift Ram temple, illegally constructed on the Babri Masjid site after it was demolished by saffron hoodlums despite solemn pledges given by their political bosses to the Supreme Court.
At least 24 senior mahants, including the chief priest of the makeshift temple at the Babri Masjid site, Mahant Satyender Kumar, and chief priests of Dasrath Mahal, Ramalaya Trust, Hanuman Garhi temple, Mahant Vishwanath Shastri, a former BJP MP, attended the meeting and severely castigated the VHP. These high priests have issued an ultimatum to remove these shilas from Dasrath Mahal, otherwise they will throw these pillars in a gutter.
‘Like thieves they entered our premises at 11.30 pm on 15 March and put pressure on priests and forcibly kept the two shilas there', Prasadacharya, the chief priest of Dasrath Mahal said.
Ramjanambhoomi Nyas Trustee Baba Dharam Das has levelled serious corruption charges against RJN chairman and has said that he has a lengthy criminal record and has extensively misused huge sums of money raised for the Ram temple.
