War between Nirmohi Akhara and VHP gathering momentum
Lucknow: The Babri Masjid-Ram Janmbhoomi dispute is in the Court but mutual recriminations between Hindu organizations claiming to build the temple have started. If this problem is solved in some way or supposing the court gives its verdict in favour of building the temple, the biggest question will be as to who should be given the responsibility of building the temple because by questioning the reliability and legality of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) the Supreme Court has relegated it far behind in this race. Supreme Court’s questioning VHP and claims by other Hindu organizations can dash its plans to the ground. The million Dollar question is: who will build the temple? Because the oldest claimant of Ayodhya dispute has once again become legally active.
It is worth mentioning here that more than a century ago Nirmohi Akhara had prepared the first writ regarding Babri Masjid dispute. Now this Akhara has unsheathed its sword against VHP and claimed that if the court’s verdict goes in favour of building the temple, the real and rightful body will be Nirmohi Akhara itself. The chief of this Akhara, Sant Raja Ram Bhaddacharya told IANS that the main and real claimant to the disputed site is he himself because his Akhara had first of all filed the writ petition in 1885 regarding the construction of temple. He further said that VHP should not interfere in this matter because it is they who have been fighting the legal war for ages.
Bhaddacharya is the resident of Baroda (Gujarat) but presently he is camping in Ayodhya with a view to collecting old documents. According to him, his Akhara has sufficient proofs in support of its claim and they will not allow VHP to have any say. He said that he does not like VHP’s interference. The real problem is that the main dispute about the disputed land is between the Nirmohi Akhara and Sunni Central Waqf Board and both are fighting legal war for ages.
He observed that VHP has unnecessarily been poking its nose in this dispute. This organization was formed in 1960 only and they never consulted them (Akhara) in this connection. Bhaddacharya revealed that the former prime minister VP Singh had once expressed his desire to talk to him about this case but the talks could not materialise (Rashtriya Sahara, 1 April 2002). q |
