‘Sants won’t wait for court order’
Lucknow: A member of the Ramjanmabhoomi Nyas has said the trust would not wait for the court’s decision on Ayodhya because there is no precedent for doing so. ‘We want the temple and we will have our temple’, Ram Das Bilas Vedanti, senior Ayodhya saint, told the Hindustan Times. ‘Babar came without a court order, the disputed structure was demolished without a court order, then why should we wait for the court decision to start temple construction?’
The next phase of the temple construction would be announced after the Marg Darshak Mandal meets in Hardwar on June 22 and 23, Vedanti said.
Heartburn continues in that Sangh Parivar over the way in which Nyas chief Mahant Ramchandra Das Paramhans and VHP leader Ashok Singhal went through a ‘personal shiladaan’ on March 15.
Mahant Dharam Das, the chief trustee of the Nyas, has filed a petition in court seeking the trust’s dissolution, and decided to float the Vishwa Dharm Raksha Parishad. The VHP strategy apparently, is to isolate Dharam Das. If it succeeds, the Hardwar meet might well see the Mahant being thrown out of the Nyas.
Singhal had a tough time in Ayodhya last week after Vedanti and several other important saints threatened to dissociate themselves from the Nyas (Hindustan Times, 16 April 2002). q |
