Photography of Rampur’s historical buildings
Rampur: Roohelkhand Cultural Society has started the process of photographing all historical buildings of Rampur for their protection. General secretary of the Society, Zuber Shah Khan, said that there is no proper record of these valuable historical buildings nor anyone is taking the responsibility for repair and maintenance of these buildings. He regretted that the identity of Rampur, the historical city of Roohelas, is associated with its historical buildings but because of government and people’s negligence and indifference, Roohela architecture is fast declining.

He said that the photography of historical buildings will be completed in three stages. First stage has already begun which will go on for two months. Most of the photographs will be of mosques, dilapidated gates and tombs etc. He said that demolition of historical mosques of Roohelas in Rampur and replacement of their Islamic architecture with un-Islamic architecture and silence of religious ‘ulama’ thereon is a matter of concern. The Society has therefore made an appeal to the people to inform it of any historical building under neglect so that each and every historical building or structure built by the forefathers could be preserved.
