Misappropriation of crores alleged in
Malegaon institution
Malegaon: According to Mumbai’s
Muslim Times, a case has been registered against the nine trustees of the
city’s Jamiatus Salehaat, a well-known religious madrasa of girls.
Weekly ‘Prince’ had recently published the news of misappropriation in
the Jamiatus Salehaat which led to the registration of a case under
sections 406, 114, 120 and 34 of Indian Penal Code. The cases were
registered against the trustees Mohammad Umar Gulshan Muqaddam, Afzaal
Ahmad Mohammad Usman, Abdul Aziz Seth Bluebird, Mulla Mohammad Wazeer
Sultan, Dr Azizur Rahman Arifi, Abdur Rasheed Captai, Helal Ahmad Mohammad
Usman, Mansoor Muqaddam, Mohammad Mustafa Banati. Allegedly they are
responsible for the embezzlement of crores of rupees in co-trust fund.
Mr Surya Vanshi, sub-inspector at Azad Nagar police station, along with
his assistants, is investigating the allegations. In reply to a question
the S.I. said that he cannot say any thing at present, but further steps
will be taken depending upon circumstances at that time. Since the
trustees of Jamiatus Salehaat have allegedly misappropriated crores of
rupees, investigations are being conducted with the same strictness. After
the registration of the FIR, the account of Jamiatus Salehaat with the
Central Bank of India as well as accounts from 1989 till date are being
scrutinized.
It is said that many interested persons are making rounds of the Azad
Nagar police station in defence of Mr Afzaal but without success. It is
alleged that the trustees of the Jamiatus Salehaat collected donations
worth crores of rupees every year from within and without the country
including Mumbai and Pune in addition to the regular fee collected from
the students. Valuable gifts in cash and kind are also said to have been
collected from guardians of girl students from England, USA and South
Africa but no open account of all these amounts has been maintained. This
correspondent wanted to get information from the authorities of Jamiatus
Salehaat in this matter but the majority of them kept silent. Some of them
are not prepared even to come face to face.
Recently, the students of the madrasa were sent on leave because of the
shortage of water and the activities of the madrasa were suspended for the
day. What was the secret behind this closure is being investigated and
soon some fresh revelations are expected. q |
