Maulana Mujibullah Nadwi:
Muslims should be given protection
and training in arms
Azamgarh:
Rector of Jamiatur-Rashad and renowned scholar, Maulana Mujibullah Nadwi,
regretted the gloomy and deteriorating conditions in the country and said
that the unfortunate situation prevailing today was never seen before. He
said that every political leader is interested in capturing power and
making fast bucks by means fair or foul. They have no interest in the
development of the country or serving the people. A large part of the
country’s wealth is being spent on the comforts and luxuries of
ministers, MPs and MLAs who are interested not in saving the country but
in saving their own chairs. Jumbo cabinets are being formed at the centre
as well as in states.
Communal forces, on the other hand, appear to have got a licence for
committing any mischievous act and hooliganism. They are not content with
lathi, sword and trishool’(trident) only but are giving training to
their members in fire arms also. They have no courage to face the
terrorists and militants in Manipur, Nagaland, Assam or Kashmir. Their
only target are unarmed and hapless Muslims. The Maulana said that their
dubious bravery is based on the hope that the government machinery is on
their side. If they are sure that police, administration, PAC etc would
act honestly and justly, these ‘valiant’ people cannot move even one
step further.
He said that the contention of these communal and fascist forces is that
they are giving training for ‘defence’ of the country. If so, Muslims
should also be allowed to impart and receive such training because Muslims
have always been in the forefront in sacrificing for the country. Our
Ulama gave up their lives, faced imprisonments and bullets, went to
Andaman Islands for the sake of the country's freedom. We united the
country but communal forces divided the country, resulting in partition
and the country became weak. Otherwise we would have been stronger than
Russia and China.
The Maulana said that these days UP government machinery in the form of
police, CBI, STF etc is very active in Azamgarh. They arrest young men at
will here and show them being ‘arrested’ in Lucknow or Ayodhya as ‘terrorists’
with fire arms, explosives etc. He said that a young man was arrested here
and killed and the news was spread that being a ‘Commander of
Lashkar-e-Toiba’ he was killed in Ayodhya in an ‘encounter’. His
dead body was thrown in a river. Another young man was stealthily arrested
by CBI here and they did not give any information about him for more than
a week.
The Maulana said that it appears that the report of the group of ministers
(GoM) on internal security has permitted this sort of cruelty and free
hand. Neither the Human Rights Commission nor political parties are
raising their voices against these acts of barbarism which are almost
daily occurrence in Azamgarh. He said that once two minor Kashmiri
children went out of their school premises for some work nearby. They were
arrested by the police who were asking them as to why they have come here
from Kashmir, as if they have come from an enemy country. q |
