Urdu second official language
of 5 more districts of AP
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh
government has made Urdu the second official language in five more
districts of the state viz Chittor, Mahboob Nagar, Adilabad, Warrangal and
Nellore. With this, now there are in all thirteen districts where Urdu is
recognised as the second official language. The other eight districts
where Urdu is already recognised as second official language are
Hyderabad, Ranga, Reddy, Medak, Nizamabad, Karnool, Cudappa, Anantpur and
Guntur. Telugu is the official language in all the 23 districts of Andhra
Pradesh.
The state government has started declaring Urdu as second official
language in districts where the number of Urdu speaking people is 12% or
more of its population. All the official work will henceforth be done in
Urdu also in these districts. Urdu translators will be appointed in
government offices so that government orders, notifications and other
things could be made available to Urdu knowing people in their language.
Urdu teachers will also be appointed in schools for teaching and promoting
the language.
Districts collectors in these districts have been instructed to
periodically review the implementation of this decision in their
respective districts. q |
