AIMMM condemns terrorism
New Delhi: Syed Shahabuddin, President,
All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, issued the following statement on 21
September:
‘The All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (AIMMM) unequivocally condemns
terrorism and the use of terrorist methods to achieve political
objectives, since no cause, howsoever, just, can justify the killing of
innocent human beings.
‘The AIMMM, in particular, expresses its shock and sorrow at the
terrorist strike in the USA on the Black Tuesday and affirms its
solidarity and sympathy with the American people in their hour of grief
and agony and offers its sincere condolences to the next-of-kin of all
those who have lost their lives.
‘While the AIMMM would like the culprits to be identified and punished,
it counsels restraint to the US authorities and cautions them against
vilifying Islam, as a religion, or demonising the Muslims of the world, as
a whole, or taking recourse to unilateral military action against any
state without credible evidence and international sanction.
‘Since the virus of terrorism flourishes only in an ambience of
oppression and exploitation, the USA, as the only super power at the
advent of the 21st Century, bears the heavy burden of responsibility of
leading the world towards rule of law, universal respect for human rights
and justice among States and among peoples and pleads that it must use its
power wisely not only to lead a global campaign against terrorism but also
for ushering in a peaceful world order based on Freedom, Justice and
Cooperation.
‘The AIMMM takes the opportunity to request the Government of India to
ensure that the anti-terrorist campaign and support to US action are not
communalised by the vested interests to malign the Muslim Indians and
incite anger and violence against them.” q |
