MOEMIN marches ahead - Some important
decisions
Meetings
of the Executive Council and the General Body of the Movement for
Empowerment of Muslim Indians (MOEMIN) were recently held in Delhi wherein
some important decisions regarding the action programme of the Movement
were taken. Both the meetings were presided over by Saiyid Hamid who was
unanimously elected last month as president.
Delegates from all over the country, including Maulana Qazi Mujahidul
Islam Qasmi, Moosa Raza, Syed Shahabuddin, Mrs Bader Saeed, Bashiruddin
Babukhan, Prof Alauddin, M Afzal, Maulana Shafi Moonis, E Ahmad (MP), Dr
Abdul Kareem Naik, KM Khan (MP), KM Arifuddin, Prof Muhammad Hashim
Qureshi, Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, Dr Syed Farooq, RK Syed, Prof Iqbal Ansari,
CM Ibrahim, Anees Durrani, Syed Hamid Husain, Prof Abida Samiuddin,
Mahmood Ali, Naved Hamid, Muhammad Jafar, Prof. FR Faridi, Ali Ahmad and
Haji Muhammad Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, attended the meetings.
The President of MOEMIN, Saiyid Hamid, said in his keynote address that
MOEMIN has to pay special attention, in the next phase, on four fields,
i.e., (1) education (2) health (3) communal harmony, and (4) social
upliftment/reform. Giving a detailed outline for the achievement of these
objectives the president said that MOEMIN will seek the cooperation of
other organizations also in order to implement its programme. The
president further said that the headquarters of the organization will be
located in Delhi and the zonal offices will be set up in southern,
northern, eastern and western regions.
The president also said that the organization will soon meet the prime
minister, minister for human resources development, justice and
empowerment, and chief ministers of various states in order to acquaint
and familiarize them with the problems and demands of Muslims.
Maulana Qazi Mujahidul Islam Qasmi said in his special address that
empowerment should be within the scope of Islam and MOEMIN should
cooperate with all other organizations in its capacity as a patron of the
movement. Vice President of the organization, Moosa Raza and executive
committee member, Syed Shahabuddin, were also among the speakers.
In the Executive Council meeting, CM Ibrahim was elected member of the
executive council from the quota of life members. The following persons
were elected executive members from among the founder members:
1. Maulana Mujahidul Islam Qasmi
2 . Rasheed Masood
3 . Naved Hamid
4 . Dr Zafarul Islam Khan, who was also elected as the general secretary
of the organization.
As regards regional secretaries, Mrs Bader Saeed (South) and Naved Hamid
(North) were elected.
After the Executive Council meeting, general body meeting also took place
the same day in which 28 members took part. President of the organization,
Saiyid Hamid, reiterated his determination to further strengthen the
movement and make it more dynamic.
All members agreed that the organization should pay attention to
strengthen its financial position so that all programmes mentioned by the
president could be given concrete shape. In this connection several
members announced their intention to liberally contribute towards the
organization’s fund. q |
