BMMCC holds Central Government responsible
New Delhi: Syed Shahabuddin, convener
of the Babari Masjid Movement Coordination Committee (BMMCC), said in a
statement that ‘The Babari Masjid Movement Coordination Committee (BMMCC)
registers its strong rotest against the deliberate trespass by the VHP
leaders into the security zone of the acquired area in Ayodhya on 17
October, 2001 and considers it a fore-taste and a rehearsal of the
unlawful assault contemplated and announced by the VHP on the disputed
site around March, 2002.
‘The BMMCC places the entire responsibility on the Central Government
which is the custodian of the acquired area for laxity in security and
collusion with the VHP and demands that the Home Minister clarify the
position of the Central Government and that the State Government book the
trespassers under all relevant Sections of IPC and set up a Special Court
to try them. The BMMCC respectfully submits to the Supreme Court to take
suo moto cognizance of the blatant contempt for the judiciary inherent in
the deliberate violation of the executive instructions based on judicial
orders and requests it to direct the Union Government not only to tighten
the security but to warn the VHP against any attempt to storm the disputed
site, in defiance of law, on or before 12 March 2002 or thereafter.’
The BMMCC reiterates its call to the Union and the State Governments
immediately to stop the campaign of mobilization launched by the VHP,
particularly its enrolling of volunteers to break the law and to prohibit
the entry and assembly of the Karsevaks in Ayodhya in the middle of
February, 2002.
The BMMCC is also of the considered view that under the rule of law the
leaders of the campaign who are inciting the people to commit unlawful
acts and publicly challenging the dignity of the State, the majesty of the
law and the authority of the executive are liable to be put behind bars
and prosecuted for waging war against the State, if the BJP-led Government
at the Centre had any courage or regard for its oath of office." q |
