Simple and regulated life can check heart
disease: Dr Khalilullah
Cautioning
people in general, Dr Khalilullah says that there are more than 10 crores
people at present in the country suffering from heart ailments and
diseases. Their number is further increasing because of the habit of
smoking and chewing of tobacco and some other wrong habits. He strongly
advocates leading a simple, pious and disciplined life on which Islam has
laid great emphasis.
India’s top cardiologist, Dr M Khalilullah started his career in
thirty-six years ago. In his own words his journey in this field has been
a long one and full of adventure during which he had to come across
strange circumstances. In this process also gained knowledge, experience
and success.
Born in Nagpur, Maharashtra, he started his career in 1966. According to
him, when he started his career as a heart specialist, he had to manage
with a very limited set of machinery. Even today he remembers the time
when he had implanted the first pace-maker in human body which was a great
success at that time. He had prepared his own pace-maker separately which
took only three months. Considering the complications and technicalities
involved in it this was a very small period.
Ever since then, enormous changes have taken place. New and sophisticated
technologies have been developed. One does not have to worry about
procurement of blood nor the patient has to remain confined to bed for
months together. Heart functioned of its own and simultaneously the
surgeon also did his own job. Now there is no need of going to Europe or
America for treatment of complicated heart diseases or ailments. According
to Dr Khalilullah there are a number of highly efficient heart specialists
who perform their duties with religious zeal, considering these as
worship. According to him, such sophisticated and state-of-the-art
technologies are available in our country and there is no need of going
abroad for surgery.
His Heart Centre is not only gifted with highly efficient expertise and
vast experience of Dr Khalilullah but is also equipped with the latest
machinery, surgical equipment, medicines and specialist doctors. Airy,
spacious and comfortable rooms, peaceful and germs-free atmosphere and
modern facilities are the characteristic features of this Centre. There
are also labs equipped with latest machinery and equipment, operation
theatre, blood chemistry lab, portable X’ray machines, Heart and Lung
machine and computerised machinery in this Centre. In the words of Dr
Khalilullah, this Centre has all those things which are a ‘must’ in
any good hospital.
There are sixteen single and double rooms for patients in this fully-airconditioned
Centre. Medical facilities and services relating to heart attack, by-pass
surgery, replacement of valves, balooning, angioplasty, open and closed
heart surgery, implant of pace-maker etc are provided in the Centre.
