Saharanpur’s Muslim College victim of tug of war
Saharanpur: The hundred-years old Boys Islamic College is the only college of Muslims in Saharanpur district but it has become a victim of tug of war between members of its managing committee for the past two decades or so.
The college was founded by one Neyaz Muhammad Khan about hundred years ago for the education and upliftment of Muslims but the reward that he got for this noble and far-sighted mission was that he and his family members were poisoned to death. It played a very important role in the education of Muslims. The college has a very large area and was designed to become a degree college but the mutual tug of war and disputes among managing committee members are hindering not only the progress but even the day-to-day functioning. Teachers are retiring every year but new teachers in their places cannot be appointed because of such disputes with the result that in all, 29 posts of teachers have fallen vacant. This is greatly affecting the education of students. Some teachers have no doubt been appointed temporarily but they are insufficient. q |
