Clubbing India with USA and Israel
‘unfortunate’
Aligarh: About a hundred and fifty
teachers and professors of Aligarh Muslim University, in a joint
statement, condemned Mulla Umar’s appeal to Muslims of the world to wage
a jihad against India together with USA and Israel. The statement says
that despite India’s sympathy with Afghanistan, his appeal with regard
to India is not al all justified and is also contrary to facts. India is a
secular and democratic country where Muslims enjoy equal rights and
opportunities with the majority community.
The statement added that Mulla Umar’s appeal has hurt the feelings of
the Muslims of India where the population of Muslims is the highest after
Indonesia. The whole Islamic world admits the invaluable services and
contributions of Muslim intellectuals and religious scholars of India.
India is a great treasure house of Islamic knowledge and learnings and the
libraries of India contain rare and priceless books of Islamic literature
which are not available anywhere in the world. Some of the religious
institutions of India are counted among the best in the whole world.
The statement also described the loss of thousands of innocent human lives
as a result of American air raids in Afghanistan as well as the starvation
deaths because of shortage of food supplies and medicines as matters of
great concern for the entire humanity. q |
