POTO will be more dangerous than TADA
Hyderabad: Muhammad Ali Shabbir,
vice-president of the state Congress Committee, said that when TADA was in
force, 80 percent of the people arrested under this Act were Muslims and
throughout the country Muslims were harassed under TADA. He said that the
whole world knows that the central home minister Lal Krishn Advani is
anti-minorities and it is no secret as to who will be affected by the new
Act which he wants to introduce in place of TADA in order to check illegal
entrants from across the border and to prevent terrorism. He added that
this new law, POTO, will be even more dangerous for Muslims than TADA.
Ali Shabbir said that Mr Advani is very anxious to get this Act passed at
the earliest. He said that any law which is enforced through ordinance can
be dangerous. It is becoming clear as to which community Advani wants to
be victimised behind the scene. If the intruders from across the border
are really indulging in terrorism in the country taking action against
them is fully justified. But everyone knows that as a man of Sangh Privar
what does he want to do and how sincere are his intentions because during
his ‘Rath Yatra’ he is on record as saying that had he not raised the
temple issue, his party would not have attained power. Ever since NDA
government has attained power Muslims are subjected to mud-slinging and
are being dubbed as terrorists. In order to restore its lost prestige, BJP
is trying to appease RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal by harassing Muslims.
What greater lawlessness and violation of law can be that in spite of the
Babri Masjid case being sub-judice in the Supreme Court, VHP and BD
activists entered the Babri Masjid and Ram Janmbhoomi complex and
worshipped there. In spite of clear identification of these culprits,
neither they have been arrested nor any action taken against them. Even a
secular person like Chandrababu Naidu, fully knowing as to who will suffer
as a result of this ordinance, keeps mum, Ali Shabbir said.
