A word with our readers in Gujarat
The forthcoming elections in Gujarat present a golden opportunity for you to safeguard our country’s secular character and defeat forces of hate. A decisive action by Gujarat voters at this juncture will not only defeat these forces in the state but also everywhere in the country. Gujarat is the last bastion of these forces of darkness after voters in other states rejected them. It was with the intention to keep at least one state within their clutches that these forces burnt the state early this year hoping to polarise it on communal lines.
The whole world is watching and waiting for your coup de grace against these forces. Minorities, especially Muslims, have a special role in these elections. Efforts will be made, as elsewhere, to divide the minority voters by propping up fake candidates so that minority votes are divided and the hate candidate wins. Be alert, be aware, don’t get fooled by local black sheep. Vote only for the winnable secular candidate, in order to decide the fate of your state and the country for many years to come. The future is firmly in your grasp: mould it for the benefit of the country and the coming generation.
