An epidemiological investigation team of the doctors of JN Medical College Aligarh Muslim University has visited the effected villages of Aligarh district to investigate the epidemic outbreak of fever.
The medical team is working in collaboration with the department of microbiology, pediatrics' and medicine.The AMU doctors team will make a rapid survey of the collected blood samples and perform clinical check-up. Drugs will be supplied by the district health officer.
The visiting team will confirm the diagnosis of cases and provide treatment and investigate the causes of epidemic. The team would also suggest methods for prevention and control of the epidemic.
Workshop on medieval history
The AMU vice chancellor Mohammad Hamid Ansari inaugurated a fifteen-day long regional workshop on medieval history for teachers from Rajasthan. Jamia Millia vice chancellor Shahid Mehdi was the chief guest at the occasion.
Highlighting the achievements of the Centre for Advanced Studies in History at AMU, director of the workshop Prof. SP Gupta said that illustrious scholars like Prof. Muhammad Habib sowed the seeds of authentic scholarship in medieval Indian history and laid down the tradition of scientific historical research.
Prof Gupta highlighted the achievements of this period by saying that more research has to go into that period. Prof. Gupta said that the year 1963 might be said to be a landmark period as it saw the publication of Prof. Irfan Habib’s The agrarian system of Mughal India.
SP accuses the BJP
The Samajwadi Party has charged the UP government led by the BJP of trying to communalize the situation in Aligarh Muslim University and spreading fear among minorities in the state.
Reacting to the recent incidents of violence in the University and subsequent police action, the party general secretary Amar Singh said that the minorities were feeling insecure in AMU. Referring to the action against the Students Islamic Movement of India, he criticized the duplicity of the BJP that while the party was tolerant towards the Bajrang Dal, it was taking action against the SIMI.
Academic Staff college
The vice chancellor Muhammad Hamid Ansari has appointed Prof. Hameed Ahmad of the department of Psychology as the director of Academic Staff College. The post was lying vacant after the resignation of Prof. Hasan Ali Shah Jaffery of the department of political science.
Hindi Advisory Committee
Dr Arif Nazir of the department of Hindi has been appointed member of newly formed Hindi Advisory Committee by the home ministry. This committee has been formed to promote the use of the official language in different ministries and departments.
Sir Syed Day Celebrations
The 183rd birth anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of AMU, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the university on 17 October.
The vice chancellor inaugurated an exhibition on Sir Syed Ahmad Khan at Sir Syed House in the campus. Addressing the gathering at the University Athletic Ground, the former chief justice of India, AM Ahmadi, said that Sir Syed struggled for the awareness of Muslims regarding scientific and modern education. He said that in his personality we have a great model to follow. He asked the students to inculcate self-respect and concentrate fully on their education. He added that only education can ensure a brilliant future for them.
The vice chancellor said that the institution which Sir Syed established is among the leading institutions of the world and its products are doing excellent work all over the world.
