Shaikh Siyam: 'spread the message of Islam'

The Regional conference of Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO), U.P. Zone (West) was held on 3rd & 4th Nov.2000 at Idgah Maidan, Moradabad in which about forty thousand people including those from neighboring districts of Bijnor, Rampur etc participated. Many speakers from the SIO, Jamat-e Islami Hind and Deoband addressed the conference. The Imam of Masjid-e Aqsa, Palestine, Dr Shaikh Muhammad Siyam was the most important speaker.

Addressing the inaugural session, Dr Siyam, while expressing regret over the humiliation and backwardness of Muslims throughout the world because they have stopped deriving lessons from the Holy Qur'an and Hadith, called upon the youth, teachers, reformers, writers etc to come forward and spread the message of Islam wholeheartedly. He said 150 people had died in Palestine and about 7000 were injured during the past one month and Jews and Americans were trying to suppress Islam.

Other speakers were Sayyid Saadatullah Husaini, National President of SIO; Sayyid Masoom Ali Azad, a scholar of Deoband school of thought; Maulana Muzaffar Sultan Hasan Turabi, Shia scholar; Janab Ejaz Ahmad Aslam, secretary of Jamat-e Islami Hind. Janab Aslam said that we have to make India our centre of activity because this is our place of birth and for this reason we should protect all Indians against evils and fire of Hell.

A resolution was passed in the concluding session wherein topics like aggression of western civilization, saffronization of educational system, Islam and terrorism, Palestine, Muslims and the mainstream etc., were covered and repeated demands for participation of Muslims in the mainstream was declared as cultural terrorism.

An attractive Islamic cultural exhibition was also organized in this conference.

A similar conference was also held on 20th & 21st October 2000 at Islamic Inter College, Saharanpur in which speakers exhorted the people to follow the teachings of Islam. The secretary of Jamat-e Islami, Ejaz Ahmad Aslam, addressing the inaugural session said that the whole world, including the West, is very eager to listen and follow the teachings of Islam. In this conference also a cultural exhibition and a Mushaira were organized. There were one thousand delegates and about two thousand participants in this conference.
