Indian Haj pilgrims
|A total of 120,000 Indian pilgrims will perform next Haj. This figure includes 11270 pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh alone. 31 children will also accompany their parents this year. The average cost of Haj this year is estimated at Rs 77,000 per pilgrim. Central and state Haj committees have organized various programmes to explore and tackle problems of the pilgrimage at home and in the holy land in the light of earlier experiences which were earlier highlighted in the MG.
The Haj House in Mumbai is busy formalizing the required arrangements including issuance of travel documents and visas. Further programmes will be held in all state capitals in order to train pilgrims, especially the aged ones, and to familiarize them with expected problems and how to tackle them while in the holy lands.
