Saiyid Hamid's Nuqooshe-e Jawid released

'The need today is the acceptance of the fact that only educational backwardness of Muslims is responsible for their decline. And the only anecdote of their miseries lies in education. It is the only remedy for their backwardness.' These thoughts were expressed by Jawed Akhtar at the function organized at the India International Centre in New Delhi to release Nuqoosh-e-Jawed, a collection of Saiyid Hamid's Urdu articles compiled by KM Asif Azami.

Akhtar added that it is high time that the ulama accept the importance of modern education and do not insist on keeping it out of madrasa curriculum. Saiyid Hamid, former vice chancellor of AMU, is now the chancellor of Jamia Hamdard. He has been working hard to popularize modern education among Indian Muslims.

Javed Akhtar, famous Urdu poet, added that people who were trusted by Muslims are mainly responsible for duping the community. He said that it is high time that Muslims give due recognition to those people who, like Saiyid Hamid, are silently doing great job for Muslims in the fields of education and social awareness.

Kuldip Nayar, a Rajya Sabha MP and senior journalist, was all praise for Saiyid Hamid. He said that initially he did not favour the demand of Saiyid Hamid to give reservation to Muslims, but now he feels that Muslims should be given reservation in jobs and educational institutions.

Syed Hamid, who, over the years has evolved as one of the leading figures in the field of education, said that he is of firm belief that if Muslims are given reservation for merely 25 years, it will make phenomenal change in the outlook of the country. He added that it will transform Muslims completely.
