Erstwhile U.P. chief minister, Kalyan Singh, who is now chief of the Rashtriya Kranti Party now, has said that BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the RSS had planned the demolition of Babri Masjid. He claimed that he was only used in this context. Being bound to the party’s constitution and discipline, he was not in a position to say anything. According to him, the three organizations have hurt Muslim sentiments by demolishing the mosque. ‘In the matter of “temple,” people of the country are now aware of the facts and now they will not be misled,’ he said. As usual, Mr Singh was harsh on the prime minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. He said that the people of the country have understood very well the contradictions in the preaching and practices of these organizations. He accused the VHP of misleading people by raising the issue of the temple construction every two months while the BJP says that building the Ram Mandir at the disputed site is not in the agenda of the coalition government. ‘Therefore VHP’s claim to build temple is a mere sloganeering,’ he opined. He said that the VHP has collected billions of rupees in the name of the temple construction and now they were afraid of people who could ask for the account of such huge collections. ‘That is the reason why they are issuing such statements. The BJP and Sangh Parivar are two faces of the same coin. In order to divert attention from core issues, the Sangh Parivar has issued statements opposing Vajpayee,’ he said.

Kalyan Singh said the prime minister has invited 400 foreign companies for business in India. Where is the Swadeshi plank of Sangh Parivar? Presently 750 foreign items have been permitted to sell goods in the country, he pointed out.
