Clashes and violence in Bihar

|SHEIKHPURA which is deemed to be a land of peace and brotherhood had to test the bitter experiences of communal clash on the auspicious day of Eid this year. The Muslim graveyard is the bone of communal contention. The clash took place at 6 in the morning on 28 December. After performing the Namaz of Eid Muslims visited the graves of their ancestors to pay homage. Some Hindus, who lay in wait, fired upon the unarmed Muslims. As the report reached Muslim areas, they came out to face the assailants. Exchange of fire went on for about two hours.
COMMUNAL FRENZY AT PHULWARI SHARIF
On the auspicious day of Eid communal tension cast its ominous grip at Phulwari Sharif in Bihar culminating in a massacre and plunder of shops belonging to Muslims. Tension peaked when local Muslims found the body of Muhammad Inam lying in a pool of blood. This infuriated the Muslims and led to a communal flareup. Roads were blocked and communications disrupted. Keeping the situation in mind the Patna Dist. Magistrate, Mr. Deepak Kumar, visited the riot-torn area. A peace meeting was held and a peace procession was taken out in order to maintain law and order. The situation remains under control but a handful of anti-social elements continue their efforts to vitiate peace of the town.
