No construction of temple by force
New Delhi: BJP has reiterated its earlier stand that it will abide by Supreme Court’s verdict regarding Ayodhya problem in case of failure to arrive at an acceptable solution by mutual talks. Adopting an aggressive attitude on Ayodhya issue it warned VHP to be prepared to face the consequences if they try to violate the law. The party made an appeal to the people to strengthen the hands of the government to fight terrorism.
The president of BJP, Jana Krishnamurthy clearly said that the issue of Ram Mandir is not in BJP’s agenda till 2004 (when next general elections will be held). Criticizing VHP for fixing 12 March as the decisive date for construction of Ram temple, he said that he too is waiting for 12 March. If VHP goes ahead with its plans, it will have to face legal consequences.
He said that whatever BJP’s stand on temple issue might have been in the past it cannot take any action now because it is bound to NDA agenda and cannot take unilateral action except either of the two alternatives of court verdict or mutual agreement between the two parties. He also said that the forthcoming Assembly elections do not have the status of a referendum for the central government. q |
