Dual citizenship holder, Bangladeshi-Swedish controversial writer
Taslima Nasreen has been once again refused visa to Bangladesh. Taslima had last visited Dhaka in 1998 to see her ailing mother after changing her name as T
Nasrin. But soon she had to go into hiding as she was being searched by police.

An active leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and member of Municipal Board Syed Ishrat Mian has resigned form the party post and its membership after being fed up with the party’s anti-Muslim activities. Vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Syed Ishrat accused the central government of BJP and Rajnath Singh’s government for pretending to sympathize with Muslims. I came to know this after coming closer to the party, he said.
Akbar Ahmed Dumpy has recently re-joined Congress after being in BSP for four years. A seasoned politician who stepped in politics 25 years ago maintains that there is a silver lining in Congress. The BJP has branded every Muslim as either an ISI agent, a SIMI supporter or a terrorist. POTO is just an act to terrorize Muslims, he says. He further says that the BJP has two sets of laws, one for Hindus and another for Muslims. Asked if it was not a good idea to stay in BSP or join SP to fight the
BJP, Dumpy replies that the SP is a B-team of the game while the BSP is just another side of the same coin. Assuring his close rapport with the Congress, he says that he might have criticized the Congress, but he has never criticized Sonia Gandhi, for she stands out clear from the petty policies of the politicians.
Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan led the Baroda team to a 136-run victory against Punjab in the five-day Ranji Trophy semi final played in
Baroda, Gujarat on 15 February. Zaheer Khan took 6 wickets for 25 runs.
The CPI (M) Kerala state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan took almost everybody by surprise by coming up with the name of
PK ZAINAB the leader of the All India Democratic Women's Association for the membership of CPI (M) Kerala State committee as the replacement for Susheela
Gopalan. Vijayan's admirers are more likely to see it as a historic achievement for the party in which he played a central role, the first ever induction of a Muslim woman into the CPI (M) State committee.
Zainab, the firebrand woman leader of the party is known for her tireless efforts for bringing acceptance to her party among the Muslim women (see page 13).
