Udaipur riots result of planned conspiracy
Jaipur: After touring the riot-affected
areas of Kotra (Udaipur), a delegation led by the chief of Jamat-e Islami,
Rajasthan circle, Muhammad Saleem met the chief minister of Rajasthan,
Ashok Gehlot and submitted a memorandum to him. The delegation apprised
him of a detailed position of the riot-affected areas and demanded that
cases against persons responsible for the disruptive activities, murderous
attacks, arson etc should be registered under relevant sections, as the
rioters have been booked under very lenient sections, action should be
taken against officers who played a dubious role during these riots and
suitable compensation should be paid to people affected as a result of the
riots. He further demanded that the activities of organizations and
persons disturbing the atmosphere of peace and communal harmony should be
strictly watched and drastic action should be taken against them. Persons
who were involved in these riots but no cases have been registered against
them should be immediately booked and action taken against them. Steps
should be taken on a permanent basis to prevent the recurrence of such
incidents.
The memorandum lauded the role and services of the district collector and
SP of Udaipur but it came down heavily on DSP Vikram Singh, Additional SP
Kirpa Shankar Gaur and SHO of Kotra police station Dongar Singh for laxity
on their part towards mischief makers as a result of which riots could not
be controlled swiftly. It has also been stated in the memorandum that
communal organizations like Bajrang Dal, BJP, Banbasi Kalyan Parishad are
trying to incite the simple and peaceful tribes of this region against
Muslims and spoiling the peaceful atmosphere in the area. q |
