Fruitful utilization of resources
By Seraj Paracha
In every big city of India where there
is Muslim population, hundreds of thousands of animals are slaughtered for
sacrifice every year and very large part of this capital worth crores of
rupees is wasted just for nothing. It is difficult to understand as to why
we do not pay attention towards this when we have got brilliant examples
before us. Do we have shortage of experts? Or we are not interested in
doing positive works? All our activities and interests are centred around
finding fault with others. Shall we continue to see our resources going
waste without being put to proper use? How long will our sentimental,
capable and dynamic people shirk their responsibilities? Muslims of India
greatly need positive activities now. If we still do not perform our
duties in right earnest and fulfill our responsibilities, neither history
nor our coming generations will remember us with respect and pride.
Can we not set up slaughter houses for sacrificial animals on the lines of
Islamic Bank? Of course, certainly we can do that. We are not short of
experts and experienced people in every field. If at all we are lacking in
any thing, it is institutions. The need for us is to assemble at a place
and prepare a positive action plan. The work in this direction can be
initiated in Delhi because there are people experienced in this work here.
Also, there are areas near by where land and animals can be made available
easily. Moreover, there is no dearth of active youths who can make rounds
in lanes, by lanes and mohallas and induce people for collective
slaughtering of sacrificial animals. We must admit that this work is no
doubt difficult but not impossible. When we call upon these youngmen for
protest meetings or demonstrations, they fully cooperate. Why then can’t
we have their cooperation for such constructive works?
Once we decide that we have to take active interest in this work, other
details can be worked out by mutual consultations. It is not possible to
write about every thing in detail but it should be understood briefly that
out of various scattered and unexploited resources, the arrangement for
sacrifices should be brought under a centralized or collective system so
that the requirements of the community should be fulfilled as much as
possible. Sacrificial meat should be made available to the deserving
people. The income derived from sale of animals’ hides, blood,
intestines, bones etc, should be used for arrangement of modern education,
technical training and welfare schemes in religious madrasas, orphanages
etc. Students of schools and colleges of high standard should be assisted
and encouraged for appearing in competitive examinations for civil,
administrative and other high class posts. The slaughter houses thus
established will be a permanent source of income. The youngmen visiting
each house for collection of funds for collective sacrifices and
distributing sacrificial meat can also fulfill the need for providing
local leadership which isvery much lacking in our community. After all we
have to take the initiative for creating such a system somewhere on an
experimental basis. Together with resources, we have also to stand up on
strong and solid foundations. If we succeed in utilizing any one of our
various resources in fruitful and beneficial manner, the entire nation
will stand up to cooperate with us with religious zeal in utilizing other
resources for such constructive works.
