Hindus safe in Muslim areas

Ahmadabad: When communal riots were raging in Gujarat, a handful of Hindus living in Gomtipur, a Muslim majority area, refused to be shifted to other ‘safe’ areas. They admitted that they find themselves safer in that area. They will be living there along with fifty thousand Muslim brethren in the same way as they have been living there for forty years or more.

Many other people, high as well as low, living in Muslim dominated areas are perfectly sure that no harm will be done to them by their Muslim brethren. They are sure that if any thing untoward happens in the neighbourhood, their Muslim brethren will protect them. (Qaumi Awaz, 9 March)
