Jobs @ MG
The game continues
|There seems to be no limit of madness
among Sangh Parivar workers. They are further emboldened by the covert
support they get from the administration due to the BJP-led government in
the state as well as the centre.
They showed their ugly face at Siddharth Nagar, followed by Moradabad and
then in Lalganj township in Rae Bareli district.
On 1 August alleged RSS workers let loose a reign of terror in the Muslim
locality of the town. They were angry because a few Muslims had assaulted
their local head in a case of eve-teasing. Police first tried to stop them
but it remained mute spectator when its officers were manhandled by the
mob. Earlier at about 6.30 a m that day the issue of the attack on the RSS
local chief was raised during the usual shakha (drill) that is held in Ram
Immediately after the drill RSS workers attacked the Muslim locality,
armed with lathis and sticks. The brave saffronite soldiers did not even
spare the children. Seeing the mad crowd Muslims closed the doors from
inside. These were broken and men, women, children and the elderly were
beaten mercilessly. Their bravery can be gauged from the fact that a
two-year-old child was thrown into a ditch filled with dirty water. The
child somehow survived.
Shubrati, Muhammad Sami, Bablu, Tahira, Cheena, Majeed and Muhammad Ikram
told MG that seeing this crowd we bolted our doors and women were sent to
the back of the houses but they broke the doors and assaulted all and
destroyed our belongings, especially utensils, food and other items of
daily use. The attack continued for about an hour but the police did not
reach the spot. After this the saffronites brought out a procession and
compelled shopkeepers to close their shops and those who opposed it were
beaten up mercilessly. They were so fearless that they manhandled police
officers who tried to stop them. So much so that the badge of the deputy
superintendent of Police was snatched and he was badly beaten compelling
the force to resort to a mild lathi charge but the trained saffron
volunteers challenged the force and fought a pitched battle compelling the
force to beat a hasty retreat.
After this episode they came back to Saraswati Shishu Mandir and put a
temple on fire with the intention of provoking common Hindus but failed in
their attempts. Local MLA and other political workers reached the spot and
pacified the people. Akhilesh Singh, chief whip of Congress rushed to the
area to control the situation. Prohibitory orders have been imposed while
the administration is parroting ‘situation tense but under control."
