Rigveda, Manusmiriti sanction beef-eating
|Ban on sale of cows should precede a demand for ban on cow slaughter. Its ironical that while champions of “Hindutva” are crying hoarse for a ban on cow slaughter, the owners of those cows are not even taking care of their proteges. They leave these poor animals to fend for themselves thus posing a traffic hazard though they do not hesitate to squeeze them (cows) to the last drops in the evening. These unscrupulous owners should be prosecuted for this criminal act of neglect. They should in no case be allowed to sell unproductive aged cows.
One should keep in mind that recently government allowed killing of “Nilgai” which was banned earlier.
Therefore, government decisions must take into account ground realities, otherwise these (government decisions) may be alluded to political expediency.
One may also add that security of citizens in a democratic country like ours must be given top priority which however is not the case.
