MG writers spurred my interest
|I had no interest to read The Milli Gazette ever. But some of the writers of The Milli Gazette such as Zeyaul Haque and Karamatullah K Ghori enchanted me. Specially Syed Shahabuddin's article "The Seven Unravelled Mystries of Godhra Carnage" (1-15 September) attracted and bewitched me.
27 February was indeed the black day in Indian history. Along with the Godhra carnage, anti-Muslim pogrom elsewhere in Gujarat is quite shameful. On February 27, at Godhra railway station the Sabarmati Express stopped only for five minutes according to its daily schedule. However, the train stopped again outside the station between 8.05 to 8.17 am, when the ill-fated coach S-6 set on fire.
Here two main questions arise. One is that how a mob made a plan, preparation to set the coach on fire in just 12 minutes. Another question is that why the mob targeted only one coach (S-6) while the other coaches were also chock-full with karsevaks.
Also, Maulana Asrarul Haque Qasmi's article "The Writing On The Wall" (16-31 August) opened the eyes of the people. Some of the karsevaks of S-6 coach had forcibly dragged a helpless 16-year old girl inside the coach and shut all the doors and windows from inside. Here is the possibility of anyone else boarding the train carrying containers of petrol/kerosene which set the coach on fire. The report of forensic experts also said that the fire had affected the internal parts of the compartment, not the external part. All this goes on to prove that the coach was set on fire from inside.
But it is utterly regretful that no one could understand the reality. Neither Modi , LK Advani or Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for that matter. They had indeed poured oil on fire by their inflammatory anti-Muslim speeches. This resulted in the unfortunate Hindu-Muslim riots.
