Jama’ate-e-Islami Hind, Gujarat Zone president’s letter to Akshardham temple chief
|Respected Pramukh Swami Maharaj Saheb
& other Maharajshri sahebs
Hope this letter shall finds you in good health, spirit and comfort.
We are deeply grieved over the unfortunate happening of large number of innocent human casualty during terrorist attack on Akshardham Swaminarayan Temple at Gandhinagar in the evening of Monday (23 September 2002). This is really a cowardly and condemnable act and we strongly condemn it.
Respected, Swamiji, terrorism and its root-cause is really a great irony and a serious problem of our present life and world at large and to curb the menace is of prime importance for all of us and responsible members of this society. Terrorists and terrorism do not have any particular religion or caste. No religion ever permits the killings of innocent human beings. And Islam can never allow any act which is harmful to humanity. Islam advocates that a killing of an innocent individual human is murder of entire humanity.
The messenger of Islam, Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (peace of Almighty Allah be upon him, amen), practiced and preached his message of peace to mankind. Even during the war, the killings of women, old people and children are not permitted; the destruction of natural resources such as trees and farming is also not allowed in Islam. At the same time it protects the life of unarmed enemy. Harming such people is a great sin and punishable in Islam. This religion does not sanction cruel killings of innocent people.
We are desirous of joining a fact-finding mission to find out the root-cause of terrorist activities, and discuss its solution. This is a prime need of our life and the world at large. And this task should necessarily be done by religious people instead of political leaders of our society.
Religion preaches the path of humanity for creating a just and fair social system in society; in which every individual human beings could live in peace. And that society should not observe any norms of inequality, differences of rich and poor. Each and every individual human being should exert his efforts for creating a society where everyone could live his/her life with fundamental rights, and their rights and responsibilities could be observed. When we shall be able to develop such a just and fair social system, then to marginalising terrorist elements shall be an easy task for our society. At the same time, it shall be very difficult and impossible for any individual, group or country to disrupt and damage the synthesis of such a just, fair and harmonious society.
The unfortunate attack on Akshardham and merciless killing of innocent human beings had greatly disturbed and perplexed with heart-burning pain within myself and my companions. Under such painful circumstances, we would like to share our feelings with you; feel deeply sorrow over the loss of innocent lives, and convey our sympathies to the relatives of those killed and pray to Almighty Allah to give speedy recovery to those injured during the terrorist attack.
We are desirous of meeting you in person. We earnestly request you to spare your convenient time so that myself and my colleagues could express our feelings and concern in person. Our national president Maulana Muhammad Sirajul Hasan, who has also expressed his deep feelings of pain and sorrow on this incident, conveys his sympathies to you and the affected people.
With warm regards.
