VHP’s Togadia arrested
Mumbai: International General Secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP),
Pravin Togadia, was arrested at Bhusawal station in Jalgaon on 31 Oct.
Director General of Police Dr Subhash Malhotra said, "We have
restrained him from going to Jalgaon and requested him to go back."
Togadia was to address the Hindu Mahasammelan, organised by the Bajrang
Dal in the area, national co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal Milind Parande
said.
Mischievous attempt foiled in Meerut
Meerut: Attempts by the mischievous elements to burn the effigies of Ravan
and others near the Shahi Jama Masjid of Meerut on the occasion of
Dussehra was foiled by the timely action of police when the ‘namazis’
objected to it.
As soon as the news of the planned programme reached the city Qazi Zainus
Saajideen, he immediately contacted the police authorities and asked them
not to allow this new tradition near the Jama Masjid, otherwise it will
become a precedent.
No arms in the mosque
Meerut: According to a late news, a misleading news about arms being
hidden in a place of worship in Jhanjhukar village in Meerut district
created a great suspence in the village but timely action by the police
prevented the situation from taking an ugly turn.
Some mischievous person informed the police that a person named Aziz
accompanied by four other persons drove to the said mosque where they have
hidden a large quantity of arms and ammunitions. Immediately on getting
the news, the police reached the village and in the company of some
responsible persons of the village thoroughly searched every place in the
mosque but nothing incriminating was found.
Trishul distribution triggers riot
Ahmedabad: Two people were injured in Kapdonj during trishul
distribution which caused violence between two communities. Police
resorted to firing and tear gas to control the violence. The situation was
under control, sources said. Tight vigilance has been maintained in the
