Former minister and senior political leader, MUNSHI HABIBULLAH passed away in Kashmir on October 29. He was 87 and was unwell for some time. A large number of people attended his funeral who was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Lankore. Habibullah was a minister in Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and GM Shah governments. He was in politics since 1956. He worked tirelessly for the betterment of the state in general and the Ladakh region in particular. His death has been widely condoled.
Photographer and film producer, ABDUL KHALIQ ANSARI passed away in Dhampur (UP) recently. He was 65. His death was widely condoled by litterateurs and journalists.
Well-known verse-recitor KHALILUR RAHMAN AMBARI died of cardiac arrest on October 10 in Delhi. Several organisations have expressed sorrow over Ambari’s death.
Freedom fighter MUHAMMAD IDRIS QURESHI of Aligarh died on October 30. He was 95. He was put in jail for a long time during freedom struggle. He was laid to rest in Bholpura graveyard.
Social activist and former secretary of Auqaf, HAJI GHULAM AHMAD MIR of Kashmir died on October 7. He was buried in his ancestral graveyard near Achhabal.
Former South Central Railway team captain and coach ANSAR ALI passed away on October 16. A popular footballer apart, he was deputy secretary of Urdu Anjuman of Railways.
