New Delhi: Movement for Empowerment of Muslim Indians (MOEMIN), a representative organisation of Muslim leaders and intellectuals headed by Saiyid Hamid organised a Diwali Milan at India Islamic Cultural Centre here on November 2.

Small earthern lamps (diyas) giving message of peace and harmony were lit by prominent personalities who wished each other a Happy Diwali. People from all walks of life thronged the venue.
A number of distinguished persons including parliamentarians, diplomats, academicians, human rights and social activists, religious leaders of all communities, bureaucrats participated in the function. The important dignitaries who participated includes IK Gujral, former prime minister of India, Sheila Dikshit, chief minister of Delhi, Chaturanan Mishra, former Union Minister, Columnist Kuldip Nayar, Dilip Padgaonkar, Managing Editor, Times of India, Dr. Ejaz Aslam, Editor, Radiance, Dr. GK Chadha, vice chancellor, JNU, Dr. Shahid Mehdi, vice chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, SM Khan, press secretary to the President of India, and several others.
Syrian, Russian, American, German and Moroccan diplomats also attended the function.
MOEMIN aims to bring together all faiths and communities in an atmosphere of camaraderie and brotherhood.
