Afghan Relief delegation meets PM

New Delhi: A delegation of the Committee for the Relief of Afghan Refugees, consisting of its chairperson, Mrs Nirmala Deshpande, former foreign minister, Eduardo Faleiro and others, met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on 26 November and informed him about the Committee’s efforts to collect funds for the relief and rehabilitation of Afghan refugees. The prime minister lauded this move and described it as part of the Indian tradition of fellow- feeling and human sympathy and expressed his best wishes. The prime minister also gave the delegation some useful pieces of advice in its efforts and termed it as a step towards strong historical relations between the Indian and Afghan people.
