Venom-spitting by eveninger
| Bulandshahar: A local evening newspaper, in its issue of 20 November, has ridiculed and projected an ugly image of the people who observe fasts, don scull and round caps, offer ‘namaaz’, take ‘sehri’ and ‘iftar’ (read Muslims) and of Islamic rites and practices. The paper has gone to the extent of writing that these days ‘namaaz’ is not offered but (may God have mercy on us) sung.! Seeing the huge gathering of the people in ‘taraweeh’ (special night prayers in the month of Ramzan) with suspicion, the paper has described it as a matter of concern for the majority people. It has also tried to prove that there are only twenty houses of Muslims in a particular Mohalla but because of announcements by loudspeaker, sleep of residents of many Mohallas is disturbed. This provocative article of the newspaper has sent a wave of anger among the Muslims and in the locality. q |
