Proper representation to Muslims: Paswan
|New Delhi: Lok Jan Shakti president and Union minister for coal and mines Ram Vilas Paswan has stated that his party, while selecting candidates for the forth-coming UP elections, will ensure proper representation to Muslims.
He has directed UP Parliamentary Board chairman, Jaswant Singh and the party’s state unit president, Ram Ashray Kashwaha to prepare a three-candidate panel from each election constituency, excepting the reserved constituencies and those of the existing MLAs of the party and each such panel must contain one Muslim candidate. He said that he has given suitable representation to Muslims among the party office bearers and there are about ten Muslims in the party’s central office bearers. The president of the party’s students wing is also a Muslim.
He further said that secularism and social justice being the soul of our constitution, his party will safeguard the soul at all cost. Though his party is a part of NDA, he will not make any compromise on the question of minorities and his party will go to extent for protection of minorities interests. q
