REJOINDERS
Muslim terrorism in India

In his very authoritative and exhaustive analysis of the Indian Muslim mood in the aftermath of Gujarat and continued threats and provocations emanating from Sangh Parivar and other political groupings ('Muslim terrorism in the offing?' - (MG 1-15 November 2003), Syed Shahabuddin, the former MP, has failed to take note of the following: 1) the radicalizing of 150 million Indian Muslims, if and when the international and national demonizing propaganda should converge and come out with new menace to community's sense of security and identity. 2) the international Jewish connection to Sangh Parivar's anti-Muslim agenda in India and its impact on reaction around the Muslim world. 3) the shape of response attending the continued denial of Muslim representation in the governance of India and the legitimacy of Indian democracy with effective disenfranchisement of 150 million Indian Muslims. Even neighbouring Sri Lanka's small Muslim minority is being assured by the western mediators a place at the table of the nation's future in coming peace talks. How long Indian Muslim will remain patient. Will they fall prey to outside manipulations? Will the new India-Pak peace settlements make a difference to their future in Indian democracy? These are some of the more important questions, which will impact any future of supposed Muslim terrorism in India and should be openly and forthrightly discussed before events crash on us.
