Maulana Naseerudin

A shocking statement is coming from crime branch after 12 days that Maulana Naseeruddin (detained in the subject matter of FIR no I-6/03 ) has given a confessional statement . There cannot be any such confession for the obvious reason that when the Maulana was reproduced before POTA court after the completion of seven days remand neither such a statement was brought to the knowledge of court nor it was mentioned or disclosed that the Maulana has given confessional statement. On the contrary an application was moved seeking a further remand of 15 days on the ground that the Maulana was not cooperating and disclosing true facts. And the application was rejected he and he sent to judicial custody. Therefore from where the confession came. when it was recorded. As per the statement of the Maulana he was not taken to any magistrate. Even if there was such a statement why POTA court was not informed, .why such a statement was coming after 12 days from the rejection of the remand application. Therefore this is a serious matter either the court was misled or kept in dark or the crime branch was misleading the media to justify their claim. It is a case of abuse of the process of law .Hence I do not see any fair and impartial investigation into the matter .Hence the investigation should be handed over to the other agency. (Hashim Qureshi, Advocate, Hyderabad)
