Madrasah teachers demand retirement at 62
Lucknow: Teachers association of Arabic madrasahs in Uttar Pradesh on 30 May demanded that the retirement age of madrasah teachers be raised from 60 to 62, in accordance with the retirement age of the teachers of other educational institutions in the state. A delegation of the madrasah teachers headed by Maulana Afzaal Husain, president of the teachers’ association met the secretary of Minorities Welfare Department and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard.
Delegation members said that many of the madrasah teachers would be completing 60 years of age by 30 June . Maulana Husain said that departments of higher, secondary and primary education had issued orders for raising the retirement age of their teachers but the department of Minorities Welfare had so far not issued any such order which had created a state of uncertainty among madrasah teachers. He has requested for the issuance of such an order for madrasah teachers soon.
