Educational Awakening Mission organized by JIH and SIO
Backwardness in every stream of Muslim community is due to lack of education. Due attention and guidance to education would restore the lost grandeur. Student Islamic Organization (SIO) has from its start made the educational development of the community and vigilant consciousness a part of its activities. Jamat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) and SIO jointly organized the Educational Awakening Mission in Andhra Pradesh during 18-27 June 2004.
Commenting on the activities and programmes of SIO in this campaign, Zahir Ali, JIH secretary for AP zone, said that a big drive has started in different districts of the state and a programme has been chalked out to go from house to house and make surveys. Corner meetings, educational rallies, group meetings, symposia, seminars, career exhibition and guidance lectures will be organized. The main purpose is to bring back to school all those who dropped out for one reason or another. The target is to secure the admission of 15000 children to schools. Students who left education due to financial problems will be identified and uniforms, books, etc would be supplied to them. Tahir Ali said it is the responsibility of every Muslim to play his role in the educational upliftment of the community. He appealed to Madrasah administrations and other eminent Muslims to extend their cooperation to make this campaign successful.
