ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE
Progress not possible without change in male attitudes towards women
  By Kaukab Siddique

When news is brought to one of them, of (the birth of) a female (child), a shadow comes over his face, and he is filled with inward grief! With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance and ) contempt, or bury it in the dust? Ah! what an evil (choice) they decide on!" [Qur’an - 16: 58-59]

Motherhood by an Egyptian sculptor
“The Qur'an indicates that respect for women is the starting point of the way a person will go, to paradise or to hell.”

Oppression of women is a worldwide phenomenon. It begins in the oppressor's home and ends up in Imperialism and Zionism.

The Qur'an indicates that respect for women is the starting point of the way a person will go, to paradise or to hell. The Qur'an connects even its apocalyptic imagery of the end of the world with the misbehavior of males towards the female infant:

"...When the oceans boil over, when the souls are sorted out, when the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 'for what crime was she killed' .... [81:6-9]

Exploitation of women is central to the American way of life. Look around the city you live in. Everywhere women are being turned into objects, ploys, to sell goods.

America is importing large numbers of young Africans and trying to brainwash them into acceptance of a view of women as whores and b...hes.

Men are being brainwashed into the lowest of the low. Who would have thought men would proudly present themselves as pimps.

In China and India large-scale female infanticide is a part of daily life. Modern science makes it possible to know whether the foetus is male or female, and it can be destroyed before it is born if it is female.

Muhammad Mustafa (pbuh) made it clear that acceptance by Allah and Paradise is connected to the way men treat women. Hadith gives clear indications on the following:

  • No wife battering or abuse permitted.

  • The pious, honest, caring, fearless wife is the best blessing a man can have.

  • Paradise is at the feet of the mother.

  • Respect, love and honor for the daughter is the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh).

  • Major sins can be forgiven by kindness to the aunt.

  • Those who bring up daughters well will be in Paradise with the Prophet (pbuh).

  • Taqwa [Allah-conscious behavior), not gender, is the key to honor in Islam.

  • Attitudes of suspicion and slander towards women are serious and punishable offenses.

We must help American women to come out of the tragic randomized sexual behavior to which they are being subjected. A homosexual like Versache was issuing fashion edicts for women. Women need to look critically at the men who are teaching them to uncover themselves. (Khutaba delivered on 23 April 2004 in Masjid Jamaatul Mulimini, Baltimore, US) «
