Balance in the population
No words are strong enough to condemn the attempt by the BJP to communalise and politicise the census figures. BJP president’s remarks that the growth in Muslim population is not in the interest of the "unity and integrity of the country" exposes the deplorable mindset of the BJP which regards Muslims as a threat to the country. It is the duty of the government to punish those persons indulging in such provocation.
The BJP president wants a ‘balance in the population’. Then he should also realise that balanced development of all the communities is equally needed. The educational and economic deprivation of Muslims is appalling. I urge upon the government not to lose any more time in formulating and implementing an educational and economic package for Muslims. National policies and practices have to be within secular framework.
