Haji Maulana Sayyad Iftekhar Husain who was closely associated with Darul Uloom, Deoband died of heart attack on 13 Oct. He had been ailing for a long time. He was 90 and laid to rest in his family grave yard.

Bihar’s minister for agriculture, Ghulam Sarvar died at his official residence in Patna on 17 October after a brief illness. He was also a great crusader of Urdu, a bold journalist and founder of Urdu daily Sangam. Chief minister Rabri Devi, RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav and his ministerial colleagues expressed deep sorrow over his death. He was laid to rest in his home town Danapur with full state honour. Bihar government has declared official mourning and all government offices were closed. He was 80 and is survived by his widow and three daughters.

Hifzur Raheem Khan, a prominent social worker of Rampur who devoted himself to spread of education and was associated with a number of educational institutions and literary organisations died at Rampur. After his retirement as a teacher from Govt Hamid Inter College he also devoted part of his time in coaching students for competitive examinations and interviews.

Haji Abdul Khaliq, who was a very popular and well-known personality in Azamgarh, Mau and neighbouring areas because of his great social, religious and milli services died of heart attack on 10 October in his home town, Rasoolpur. He was a very pious person and leaves behind a large family.

Maulana Mohd Rizwan Al Qasmi, distinguished religious scholar, one of the founding members of Muslim Personal Law Board and vice president of Islamic Fiqh Academy died in Hyderabad on 11October after remaining in coma for about a month. He was born in Bihar but later on settled down in Hyderabad where he founded Darul Uloom Sabeelus Salam. He leaves behind a large family including mother wife, children, brothers etc. He was 80.

Haji Abdur Rahman who was closely associated with Jamia Rahmani and Khanqah Rahmani, Monger died of heart attack in Patna on 10 Oct. Sajjada Nasheen of Khanqah Rahmani, Maulana Mohd Wali Rahmani expressed deep sorrow over his death. He was laid to rest at his home town Khagaria in Bihar.
