Obituaries

Founder editor of Indian Puran' and a prominent journalist PM ABU BAKR passed away on 11 August 2004 in a private hospital at Ernakulam , Kerala after a prolonged illness. He was a member of Municipal Corporation and the head of Congress Party's Farmers Department of the district. He was 56 and is survived by two wives and two children. 

Haji Sharif Shifai, well-known poet of Bhopal died on 7 September after a prolonged ilness. He was a patient of diabetes. He was admitted in Bhopal Memorial Hospital where he died a few days later. He was the moving spirit of the literary organisation, 'Fun wa Fankaar'. He was 55. He was buried at Bara Bagh groveyard in Bhopal.

Islamic preacher, Al Haj Ibrahim Yusuf Bawa died recently in a London suburb at the age of 78. He was a heart patient. He was also an author of many books. He leaves behind his widow, two sons and and five daughters. 

Ahmad Husain 'Behis Allahabadi classical ghazal singer died recently in Allahabad. He had no wife and childern but left behind a vast crowd of his admirers and well wishers.

President of Jamiatul Ulema-e Hind, Maulana Madni expressed his deep sorrow over the death of Maulana Abdulla Bastwi who was based in Madina. The late Maulana was a distngished religious scholar. Maulana Madni said that Maulana Bastawi was a simple person and a keen seeker of knowlege. He taught in Madrasa Husainia, Muzzaffrnagar for 30 years. 

Chief of Rex Remedies Maulana Abdullah alias ‘Taoli Wale’ passed away on 16 September 2004 in the holy city of Madinah. Janaza parayer was offered in Masjd-e-Nabawi the next day and he was buried in Janatul Baqi. Rex. family expressed its deep sorrow on his sad demise. 

Taabish Dehlvi, renowned Urdu poet passed away in Karachi on September 23. Born in Delhi, he migrated to Pakistan in 1948 with his family. He taught Urdu in a college, and worked as an Urdu writer and journalist for Radio Pakistan for a few years. (Kaleem Kawaja).«
