Seminar on Dr. Hameedullah
Hyderabad: In a joint statement issued here, Maulana Hameeduddin Aaqil Husami, Ameer, Millat-e-Islamiyah Andhra Pradesh, Mohammed Abdur Raheem Quraishi, president, All India Majlis-e Tameer-e Millat, Maulana Rizwanul Qasmi, Director, Darul Uloom Sabeel-us-Salaam, said that a seminar would be conducted after the month of Ramadan on the Subcontinent’s greatest Islamic scholar in recent times, Dr Mohammed Hameedullah who passed away on Dec.17, 2002 at Jacksonville away from his homeland of Hyderabad which he left in 1948 and spent the rest of his life in Paris. He had moved during his last years at his brother's great granddaughter.
A coordination committee has been setup for this purpose at the Madina Mansion, Narayanguda. The Committee has appealed to all those persons who have met Dr. Hameedullah or known him to send their impressions and details of their meetings in writings to the committee. It also appealed to members of his family to give, if any, non-published writings so that these may be published. Persons who have in their possession letters of Dr. Hameedullah have been requested to give the
committee their copies. The statement said that this will be an all-India seminar where famous scholars and writers will be invited. Efforts will be made to invite, if possible, foreign scholars as well. The committee will also seek the cooperation of Jamia Nizamia of which Dr. Hameedullah was a student.
