Triple talaq and polygamy

There is much talk bout triple talaq and polygamy these days in the media. I am in favour of ban on them. Hundreds of Muslim women suffer because of triple talaq and polygamy. The Quran permitted polygamy to help women in distress as widows and orphans. In fact, the Quran has discouraged polygamy in the two verses 4:3 and 4:129. The verse 4:3 requires rigorous justice to all wives and ends by warning that "if you cannot do equal justice then marry only one". The verse 4:129 makes it clear that equal justice is often not possible, Quran asks the believers not to leave the first wife in suspension.

In the light of Quran, I think triple talaq and polygamy should be outlawed. It is high time that laws should be enacted to ban them to do justice to our womenfolk and to uplift their status.
